Kennebunkport Fine Living Festival Tuesday through Saturday, May 31 - June 4. This is an early summer fine food, art, and wine festival.
Maine Moderns: Art in Seguinland, 1900-1940 from June 4, 2011 - September 11, 2011 at the Portland Museum of Art. This exhibition of 65 paintings, sculptures, drawings, and photographs will examine the personal and professional relationships of a small group of American modernists who worked in Maine in the first half of the 20th century. These artists all chose to summer in the small mid-coast communities south of Bath, in a region that was then known as "Seguinland". This exhibition will feature works by F. Holland Day, Clarence White, Marsden Hartley, Max Weber, Marguerite and WIlliam Zorach, and Gaston Lachaise, among others.
Will Barnet at 100, April 30, 2011 - August 14, 2011
Artist Will Barnet celebrated his 100th birthday on May 25. To honor this extraordinary moment, the Museum presents an installation of his work on the third floor. Barnet is a painter, printmaker, teacher and a long-time summer resident of Maine.
38th Annual Old Port Festival Sunday June 12. Celebrate the beginning of summer in downtown Portland with eight music stages. The festival begins at 11am with a parade through the Old Port.
Independence Day Pops with the Portland Symphony Orchestra on Monday, July 4th at 7:30 p.m. The biggest band in town returns to the Eastern Promenade with a program filled with rousing marches, a tribute to the Armed Forces, and plenty of patriotic favorites, plus a dazzling fireworks display coordinated with the music. Come early, pack a picnic and settle in for Portland's own July 4th Spectacular!
Yarmouth Clam Festival Friday through Sunday, July 15th -July 17th. Come to the 46th annual Yarmouth Clam Festival. You can look forward to all the funevents that make this festival Maine's summer favorite.
