Is Black Point Inn a private club?
No — Black Point Inn and The Chart Room are open to the public.

Is Black Point Inn part of Prouts Neck Country Club?
We are close neighbors and share a long history on the Neck, but we are separate organizations. Prouts Neck Country Club is a private club with golf, pickleball and tennis facilities for its members and their guests.
Can guests at Black Point Inn play golf, pickleball or tennis at Prouts Neck Country Club?
Yes. Overnight guests at Black Point Inn may arrange tee times and court reservations (based on availability, additional charges apply) at Prouts Neck Country Club through the Inn’s Front Desk. Availability varies with season and member play, so we recommend requesting arrangements early in your stay.
This is one of the rare places where you can enjoy:
· A classic seaside Wayne Stiles golf course, and
· Clay tennis courts overlooking the salt marsh
No annual dues. No membership application. Simply contact Guest Services to help make a reservation.
Is there beach access?
Yes. Guests can walk to Western Beach directly across the street from the Inn, drive to Ferry Beach just minutes down Black Point Road, or walk to Scarborough Beach and access via Prouts Neck Bathing Club.

No membership required. The Chart Room is open to overnight guests and to the general public. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially in summer.
What makes the Inn feel “club-like” if it’s not private?
Ritual and rhythm. Mornings on the porch, afternoon walks around the point, cocktail hour as the sun sets, dinners that linger. Guests return year after year — and staff remember names, stories, and favorite drinks. It’s a sense of belonging that grows naturally, not something you pay for.
Can I visit Black Point Inn if I’m not staying overnight?
Yes. Locals and visitors are welcome to:
· Dine at The Chart Room
· Enjoy porch cocktails
· Attend seasonal events (where available)

What is the dress code?
Comfortably refined. Think summer dresses, linens, button-downs, and sweaters in the evening. Not formal, just pleasantly put together.
What’s the best time of year to visit?
Summer on the porch is iconic. Early fall is peaceful and golden. Spring has a quiet, locals-only charm. There’s no wrong choice, just different flavors of coast.
Do people return year after year?
Yes, and often across generations. That’s where the “club without dues” feeling comes from. You don’t need a summer house on the Neck to feel at home here, just a desire to slow down and take in the view.
